Our ministry hasn’t been much of what most people have expressed that they thought I would be doing on the race. It hasn’t been super glamorous or special by others standards. It has been a humbling and rewarding experience nonetheless. Due to COVID most of our jobs are on the ywam base where we are staying, helping them get things the way they want them while it’s less busy.

We have a couple different groups working in areas around campus. We have a maintenance crew that does anything from gardening to sanding doors and painting. We have a marketing team that helps ywam with their social media platforms, pictures and bios and things of that nature. We have a hospitality crew, which I’m apart of. Our responsibility is to sweep, mop, clean bathrooms, get rooms ready for new students coming in, and water plants. Lastly, we have the kitchen crew, which everyone gets to be apart of. We take turns in the kitchen learning how to make traditional Guatemalan food and practicing our Spanish.

We were on the brink of expanding our ministry to open up more to the community with children ministries, when we got quarantined again. We don’t exactly know what we’ll be doing when we get back. We’ll have about 2wks left in Guatemala.

If there is anything quarantine has taught me, it’s that “ministry is life and life is ministry”. This is a common thing that people in the AIM (Adventure In Mission the world race organization) world use a lot. It has really begun to click with me. Even when we feel as if we’re stuck in quarantine, which we didn’t sign up for, God is still working. He is still moving and growing us towards Himself. We get out of quarantine on February 12th and I can honestly say quarantine didn’t break me down, but it made me stronger and more resilient.
