Our passion on the world race is to share the gospel. If you don’t know the gospel or don’t completely understand it hopefully by the end of this blog it will be very clear to you. The gospel isn’t just a piece of Christian history, it is the very foundation on which all Christian lives should be built on. It is the single most important fact. Every part of scripture points back to it in one way or another. Not only that, but it is illuminated in the world around us daily. If you’re not seeing it, it’s not because they aren’t there, you simply just haven’t taken the opportunity to see them clearly yet.

To understand the importance of the gospel you need to know the gospel. Jesus came as a baby; he was the son of Joseph and Mary. He lived a perfect life void of sin. Throughout his life he did many amazing things. He was born for a task that would be impossible for anyone else. He laid his life down for everyone elses. He was beaten, disfigured beyond recognition, and killed for us. He did something we can’t do for ourselves. He offered his life as a sacrifice for us, so that if we chose to accept it we can be seen as perfect and blameless in God’s eyes. He did this willingly and perfectly. That’s not the end of the story though. Three days after he died he raised from the dead, just to make clear that we understood “it is finished”. He came not to abolish the law and the prophets, but to fulfill it.(Matthew 5:17 esv)

If that wasn’t easy to follow, think about it this way. Say you’re a criminal on death row and you know you are guilty, you deserve to die for what you have done. Then someone you don’t know comes along, someone who is innocent. They volunteer to take your place and die, so that you don’t have to. Wouldn’t that be incredible? Wouldn’t you want to know as much about this person? Wouldn’t your life change tremendously if a stranger you had never met, who knew you were guilty willingly gave their life in your place so you could have a fresh start? That’s what Jesus did for you.

I hope that helps you to better see the importance of the gospel. I experienced the gospel for the first time at a young age. Someone I loved and respected shared with me the unconditional love of Christ. Learning that I was loved in spite of sins I have committed. To be honest even after realizing that I was loved no matter my shortcomings, it took longer to truly understand and accept it. I know that I am wanted even though I will never be worthy. Regardless of my unworthiness due to my sin, Jesus died for me with no regrets. He died for me so I choose to live for Him and share His unconditional love with those around me, in hopes that they can find the peace I have in Christ.  Thank you Lord for the GOSPEL!!!!!
